Scope of Position:
Implements environmental/safety strategies to reduce environmental impacts, minimize risk and to ensure environmental/safety compliance with applicable regulatory and corporate environmental/safety requirements. This role will have an emphasis on environmental compliance.
Day to Day
Responsibilities:
Implementation of the environmental management system (ISO 14001 system). Execute responsibilities as defined in the facility's EMS.
Support environmental and safety assessments along with resulting mitigation activities that will identify, evaluate and prevent non-compliant conditions and acts.
Facilitate root cause analysis when non-compliance events/situations occur.
Participate in evaluation of EMS objectives to ensure that it is effective and appropriate for business conditions.
Provide direction for internal employees ranging from management to operations, contractors, vendors and others to maintain environmental compliance.
Participate with review of projects, plans, specifications, and purchases to verify that environmental issues are addressed in a proactive manner.
Advise management on setting short (annual) and long term (3-5 year) goals for environmental improvements. Execute to meet or exceed the goals.
Assist in environmental education and training, support and guidance to facility personnel to maintain a work environment consistent with company policy and regulatory requirements.
Understand impact of manufacturing process and equipment in regard to environmental impacts and compliance.
Understand and communicate environmental permit requirements and data generated to prepare permits.
Communicate environmental regulations as they pertain to the facility.
Participate, as a team member, in regulatory and corporate inspections and investigations. Lead the facility effort to respond to corporate audits, including developing appropriate corrective actions and tracking the closure of those actions.
Support projects as requested and collaborate with company and consultant resources to leverage best work practices and to provide additional skill-level support.
Travel Requirements:
Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:
45-50hrs/week
8a-5p are generally accepted hours however flexibility in schedule is required to meet the 24hr operation

Required Education:
Bachelor's degree in technical field (e.g. Environmental Science, Engineering, or equivalent related experience).
Required Years and Area of
Experience:
3-5 years of experience in an environmental-related field.
Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations.
Required Skills:
Knows where to direct questions regarding ENV services and employs these external resources on a regular basis.
Strong working knowledge of environmental regulations, including but not limited too Hazardous Waste Management, DOT, Title V and Waste water requirements.
Understands the principles and execution of the ISO 14001 EMS standards.
Possesses a fundamental understanding of the legal and technical aspects of the ENV profession and the ISO 14001 standards.
Understands and uses basic project management principles and tools.
Working knowledge of OSHA and basic manufacturing safety
Desired Skills:
Is effective in a variety of formal presentation settings: one-on-one, small and large groups, with peers, direct reports, and bosses.
Is able to write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles.
Is effective both inside and outside the organization, on both data and controversial topics.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
