Shaker Village Development Department:
The Development Department supports the mission of Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill by giving individuals and organizations the opportunity to preserve our heritage and inspire generations through their generous gifts of time, talent and treasure.
Position
Summary:
Reporting to and partnering with the President/CEO, the Development Director fosters a culture of philanthropy within the organization.
The Development Director will assure that the organization's systems and procedures support fund development and will lead staff and volunteers to institutionalize fundraising within the organization.
As a member of the senior leadership team, the Development Director will work closely with the Development Committee of the Board of Trustees', and be an active participant in, and driver of, the organization's overall fundraising strategy.
The Development Director will also coordinate any Capital Campaigns as voted on by the Board of Trustees.
Responsibilities Plans, coordinates and assures implementation of fundraising strategies to develop donors and contributions to support SVPH--all in keeping with SVPH's values, mission, vision and strategy.
Develops and maintains systems to manage fund development, including, but not limited to:
donor research/analytics and cultivation; annual and major gift solicitation, processing and recognition; and volunteer and donor management.
Collaborates with the CEO, board, staff, and volunteers to drive the direct solicitation of donors via meetings, meals, events, phone calls, eblasts, and traditional mailings.
Optimizes fundraising events via planning, cost control, and soliciting sponsors and patrons.
Leverages SVPH events to engage current and prospective donors.
Enable SVPH to attract, retain and motivate donors and fundraising volunteers.
Monitors fundraising performance by measuring and analyzing results; initiating corrective actions; minimizing the impact of variances.
Reports fundraising results status to the President/CEO, Board and management teams by developing forecasts, reporting results, analyzing variances and developing process improvements.
In Collaboration with the Grant Committee, reviews all grant applications, ensuring appropriate focus, format, content, reporting and adherence to stated guidelines of the grant provider.
Manages the activities of the Development Department staff, including coaching/mentoring staff for performance tracking and improvements.
Responsibilities for all members of the SVPH Senior Leadership team:
Coordinates with the colleagues to ensure that SVPH maintains a focus on overarching strategies and goals outlined in the scorecards of individual departments.
Plans and coordinates the work of outside vendors and contractors as required, ensuring compliance with accounting and legal standards as set by SVPH.
Partners with the Accounting Department to accurately and efficiently process all accounts payable according to SVPH policies and procedures.
Ensures stewardship of SVPH monetary resources by creating/receiving accurate estimates and adhering to the requirements of the SVPH budget.
Promotes the sustainable use of all resources, including natural, monetary, human and additional physical resources to ensure the longevity of SVPH and the most minimal environmental impact possible.
Provides vital input in short and long-term strategic and operational planning.
Appropriately represents the organization, its Board and the President/CEO to guests, volunteers and donors.
Supports a culture of philanthropy at SVPH, in partnership with the Development Office, by prioritizing and estimating expenses for physical needs to the site, communicating the mission and non-profit status of the organization through stories of impact, and ensuring that all work is documented for tax rebate purposes.
Supports a culture of communication and cooperation among all SVPH departments.
Updates job knowledge for him/herself and staff team by remaining aware of new compliance standards and regulations; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
Accomplishes human resource strategies in partnership with the HR Department by:
determining roles; communicating and enforcing values, policies, and procedures; implementing recruitment, selection, orientation, training, coaching, disciplinary, and communication programs; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation strategies.
Accomplishes marketing and communications mission by completing additional tasks as assigned and related results as needed.

Is familiar with and assists to train staff in SVPH crisis management/emergency procedures.
Provides vital input in short- and long-term strategic and operational planning.

Education and Experience Demonstrated development leadership with at least 5 years of broad development experience An undergraduate degree is needed, with a graduate-level degree preferred.
Experience with Raiser's Edge or similar advanced development software.
Strong capabilities in Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet program.
Staff management experience, including human resource processes, preferred.
Certified Fund-Raising Executive certification (CFRE) preferred.
Experience in using donor data analytics to segment and target donor prospects.
Mental and Physical Requirements:

Maintain concentration with time pressures and interruptions.
Ability to maintain visual attention for a considerable length of time.
Frequently required to sit and stand for a considerable length of time.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
