Day to Day
Responsibilities:
Provide day-to-day leadership for four to six Division Melting Technology Engineers.
Manage the Melting Technology Management Portfolio to budget.
Strategy development/deployment Create and communicate the long term view of Melting Technology for the CGT Division Engineering team.
Where appropriate, lead Melting technology projects.
Management/facilitation of the technology change management process for Melting.
Training track employee technical training for all new hires, new training requests for direct reports.
Employee Career development- creates and track career plans for each direct report.
Participate in hiring and staffing as needed.
Perform technical analysis of melting and delivery processes. Application of analytical results will be used to improve equipment, processes and meeting customer requirements.
Interface with Melting Equipment Design team for new Melting technologies (concept through production trial).
Interface with Research and Development for production trials of new products and technologies.
Interface with Plant Engineering to facilitate the introduction of new technologies into manufacturing.
Support manufacturing startups, developments and expansions worldwide.
Support equipment repair activities as required worldwide.
Projects involved with:
Process/Product Excellence - Six Sigma, DMAIC and Manufacturing Engineering Excellence
Technology development, deployment and migration.
Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:
Expect 50 hours per week on average.
Weekend work required during development projects and process start-ups.
Off hours calls will be necessary depending on project workload.
Travel Requirements:
Domestic and International Travel required. International Assignments may range from 1 - 12 weeks in duration. Overall 25-40% travel.
Required Skills:
B.S. in an Engineering discipline.
5 years experience minimum in continuous process manufacturing
Strong technical/project management skills.
Good computing skills- MS Office.
Prior experience in a supervisory position.
Desired Skills:
Chemical or Ceramic Engineering degree.
M.S. in engineering discipline.
Glass manufacturing experience.
Soft Skills (Communication/Team/Leadership):
Strong interpersonal skills.
Solid leadership and decision-making skills.
Strong project management skills.
Good organization skills.
Effective at communicating across payroll levels.
Ability to listen to and gain process understanding from engineers through business leadership.
