Melt Equipment Engineer

Corning's Display Technologies segment manufactures glass substrates for active matrix liquid crystal displays ("LCDs") that are used primarily in LCD televisions, notebook computers and flat panel desktop monitors.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
Develop and promote "good" project management practices in technology area
Investigate and adapt new equipment installation technologies as needed or justified
Investigate and recommend equipment modifications to technology area design function
Provide equipment troubleshooting for operations as needed
Indirect supervision and leadership of plant and external trades personnel
Management of assigned technology-area equipment projects, worldwide
Manage procurement of rebuild and spare parts from various vendors
Worldwide on-site leadership for installation and debug of technology area equipment
Role within Group:
Focus on projects around; Melting System rebuilds, Melting System design modifications, and Melting System new construction
The work environment will be a combination of office atmosphere (when developing plans, etc.) and plant floor when building equipment.
Work will be in both the US and Asia.
Team Leader during projects; oversight of trades personnel for daily work activity.
Travel: up to 25% domestic and international
Bachelors degree in Engineering.
Major in Ceramic, Materials, Chemical, Mechanical, or Civil preferred.
Required Skills
Knowledge in electrical, mechanical and project engineering
Knowledge in construction and installation of manufacturing equipment
Direction setting/supervision of project personnel
Attention to project customer satisfaction
Motivate/ensure project team satisfaction
Use and promotion of Project Management "best" practices
Support of and adherence to standard plant/business policy, initiatives, and strategies
Ability to read blueprints and other drawings
Desired Skills
Knowledge in Glass manufacturing
Knowledge and use of a problem-solving process (i.e. KT)
Hands-on mechanical skills
Fundamental understanding of basic machining
Basic AutoCAD or equivalent skills.
5 years experience in engineering or science background business most preferable in glass manufacturing or ceramic manufacturing
