Process Technician, Gorilla Glass

The Specialty Materials segment manufactures products that provide more than 150 material formulations for glass, glass ceramics and fluoride crystals to meet demand for unique customer needs. Consequently, this segment operates in a wide variety of commercial and industrial markets that include display optics and components, semiconductor optics components, aerospace and defense, astronomy, ophthalmic products, telecommunications components and cover glass that is optimized for portable display devices.
Seeking a highly capable Process Technician for advancing glass manufacturing processes. Candidate must have strong experience with glass (or related) manufacturing processes and technology. This position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with globally distributed researchers and engineers across multiple corporate divisions.
Job Responsibilities
Provides technical support for a glass manufacturing process
Utilizes process engineering skillset (process data analysis, root cause troubleshooting, etc.)
Provides support to plant engineering & operations during day-to-day troubleshooting on running lines
Supports process startup activities on new process lines, and supports process development
Executes plans for mid-to-long term yield, attribute quality, and cost improvements
Interfaces with equipment teams and provides technical guidance to meet process requirements
Captures and documents process learning and IP
Travel Requirements:
up to 30% at times depending on projects. To Corning, NY and Asia as required, to participate in and direct process experiments, support installation and start-up of production lines.
Work schedule:
Full time (40 hours per week), but great flexibility required given the globally dispersed nature of the team and aggressive project timelines. Teleconferences are likely during early morning or evening hours. Night/weekend shift coverage flexibility is expected during process startup and heavy development activity.
Education and Experience:
Associate's degree or 3 years demonstrated experience in manufacturing, engineering or physical sciences in lieu of degree
Experience working in manufacturing and industrial environments encompassing all stages of innovation (I-V)
Proven track record of solving difficult technical or process problems
Experience working in manufacturing plants and industrial research facilities
Demonstrated experience working across multiple cultures and with a globally dispersed and diverse team
Technical Skills:
Strong proficiency in any or all of the following: electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, machining (CNC), glass manufacturing technology, manufacturing statistics, data analysis, problem solving
Experience with any or all of the following: heat transfer, glass forming, mechanics, discrete material conveyance, robot processes, packaging
Experience with executing designed experiments and analysis of data
Problem solving skills demonstrated through troubleshooting on product or process related issues
Experience with OSI PI data systems or similar manufacturing process data systems
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and CAD software
Non-Technical Skills:
Ability to execute on technical projects via communication and relationships from a remote location
Ability to handle ambiguity, changing priorities and changing requirements
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Well-developed skills in working across multiple cultures and on a globally dispersed and diverse team

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
