The Human Resources Department supports the mission of Shaker Village by providing services to attract, engage and retain high quality employees, and developing a supportive culture to stimulate continuous improvement and efficient performance in achieving company-wide goals.
Job Summary
The Human Resources Representative supports the Chief Human Resources Officer, by providing HR expertise with emphasis in employee and retirement benefits, and ADP payroll setup and administration. This role assists in ensuring compliance in employment standards, handling HR documents, forms and records, and supports the hiring process according to company policy, state and federal laws.
Duties and Responsibilities
Prepares and inputs payroll data into ADP Workforce Now, including new hires, garnishments, benefits, 401k, vacation and PTO, deductions, changes and terminations
Performs regular audits of payroll documents and ADP reports
Assists with ensuring compliance with all state and federal wage and hour laws
Maintains personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements
Keeps employee records up to date by processing employee status changes, and assures proper approvals
Processes benefits programs and changes for medical, dental, life insurance, long term disability, 401k and HSA accounts
Coordinates procedures to initiate benefits and open enrollment periods
Assists with the administration of programs including FMLA, military leave and leaves of absence
Assists with recruitment by screening, scheduling interviews and new hire orientations
Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
Strong professional organization skills
Understanding of legal guidelines related to human resources
Assists with new employee orientation by reviewing gathering information, scheduling days/times, and related work
Maintains employee handbook with updated information as needed to ensure employee handbook communicates policies according to company policy
Responds to general inquiries efficiently and professionally
Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain strict confidentiality
Must be responsive and supportive of staff at all levels
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
Performs other duties as directed by the Chief Human Resources Officer

Physical Requirements
Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms
Perform physical activities such as bending, stooping, climbing steps, and walking
Frequently required to sit, stand and walk
Specific vision ability includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
Regularly lift and/or move up to 20 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 40 lbs.
Work Environment and Conditions
Frequently sitting, standing, walking and climbing steps
Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions
Noise level is usually moderate, normal office environment
Qualifications and Education
Undergraduate degree in human resources, business or a related field
Minimum four years progressive experience in human resources, with working knowledge of various HR functions
Restaurant, hotel, retail and/or Not-for-Profit experience helpful
Prior work with ADP payroll, specifically ADP Workforce Now
Solid understanding of ADP payroll and time clock systems
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products
Demonstrated attention to detail



Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
