Operations Shift Supervisor

Corning's Display Technologies segment manufactures glass substrates for active matrix liquid crystal displays ("LCDs") that are used primarily in LCD televisions, notebook computers and flat panel desktop monitors.


DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:
-  You will gather and analyze process data relating to continuous flow process as the operations shift supervisor for the group.


-  Utilize knowledge of process control for manufacturing decision-making and direct and assign daily work assignments for hourly shift employees.


-  Achieve and maintain impeccable safety and housekeeping performance


-  Define and achieve quality performance that allows HAKY (plant) to meet or exceed customer expectations and manufacturing goals and cost objectives. Holding team to standard operating procedures, code of conduct, plant/company rules, collective bargaining agreement


-  Engaging the Union workforce through setting clear expectations and holding the team accountable


-  We will be driving continual process improvement, utilize Six Sigma Process to eliminate Cause and Effect, and be the dedicated Lean Manufacturing Leader for shift personnel


-  You will be the center of knowledge for all happenings on/with the shift and have supervisory responsibility for the minimum of 20 personnel.


TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
-  Occasional trips to Corning, NY


HOURS OF WORK:
-  12hr Rotating Shift Schedule


REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
-  4 year degree or equivalent work experience in an Engineering discipline (Mechanical or Electrical preferred)


-  0-3 years of supervisor/management experience


REQUIRED SKILLS:
-  Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to work at all levels of the organization, and continuously mentor, coach or teach?


-  We need someone with critical decision-making skills that will lead to the SOP, trouble shoot, and act under various pressures.


-  Ability to use root cause analysis and direct engineering solutions accordingly


-  Ability to understand and own multiple areas in the plant in order to prioritize and assign work and resources


-  Ability to handle multiple tasks at once


DESIRED SKILLS:
-  We need a person with experience using Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Intermediate level with a basic statistical knowledge


-  You will showcase your understanding of manufacturing systems/operations and Lean Manufacturing experience

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
