We are developing and manufacturing specialty flat glass used in numerous applications. In addition to substrates and light guide plates for display technologies, Corning Glass Technologies group also manufactures Gorilla¬ Glass used as a chemically-strengthened protective cover for touch-enabled devices such as tablets and smart phones.

SCOPE OF POSITION
-¬  In this group of process development engineers, we apply fundamental understanding of materials chemistry and engineering principles to develop melting process capability for new glass compositions.


-¬  We will work on projects that involve new product innovations in Display Technologies (EAGLE XG¬ , Lotus‚„Ę, Iris‚„Ę), Specialty Materials (Gorilla¬ Glass), and Automotive glass businesses.


-¬  You will collaborate on process equipment design projects in the broader organization.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
-¬  You will be responsible for melting and delivery system process setup development and engineering during new glass composition tank trials. Lead all activity related to achieving melting process objectives.


-¬  Technical teamwork, reporting, communications (status, issues, troubleshooting plans) with R&D and manufacturing organizations during tank trials of new glass compositions.


-¬  Technical analysis of process and defect data applied to process improvement. Design and implementation of process experimentation.


-¬  Support migration of new glass compositions to manufacturing locations worldwide.


TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
-¬  Up to 30% - mostly Asia (Taiwan, South Korea, Japan) with some domestic. Typical travel duration may be 2-5 weeks depending on project.


WORKING HOURS:
-¬  40 hours Monday-Friday with weekends possible dependant on project or location of assignments.


REQUIRED SKILLS
-¬  Technically curious - seeking the information needed to succeed in becoming a glass melting expert


-¬  Strong technical skills ‚€“ understand materials in science/chemistry to apply to defect formation mechanisms, understanding of heat and mass transfer, thermodynamics, and kinetics.


-¬  Analytical skills ‚€“ use rigorous data analysis and distill into concise results.


-¬  Problem-solving skills ‚€“ able to handle technical challenges using scientific methodology.


-¬  MS Office computing skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).


-¬  Fluent in English


DESIRED SKILLS
-¬  Understanding of glass chemistry and properties.


-¬  Experience with glassmaking, ceramic, or other materials processing


-¬  New product/process development or scale up experience.


-¬  Statistical analysis skills and/or experimental design


-¬  Project leadership skills ‚€“ vision, planning, and execution.


-¬  Ability to communicate in Mandarin, Korean, or Japanese language.


EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
-¬  B.S. in Engineering required (M.S. and/or Ph.D. preferred) ‚€“ Glass/Ceramic Science/Engineering, Materials Science/Engineering or Chemical engineering.


-¬  0-3 years relevant working experience desired, but not a requirement.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
