Engineering Project Leader, Forming Technology

Day to Day Responsibilities:   Technical project leader contributing to the overall strategy of advancing Corning Glass Technologies (CGT) fusion processes as well as new glass compositions, products and technologies Leads transfer of technology across the business, migration of new process technologies including setups & standard methodologies, both US and overseas (Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and China) delivering improvements in quality, yield, and cost Support plant engineering, Division Engineering and Development organizations in problem solving; applying engineering fundamentals (e.g., heat transfer, fluid dynamics, mechanics) Focus on building knowledge of the existing processes and capabilities to resolve root cause of problems and outline project strategy and scope. Plan and direct resources, schedules, and budgets for assigned projects Schedule and drive technical reviews within assigned functional area to monitor project progress from initiation through closure. Organize interdepartmental activities to ensure completion of the project on schedule and within budget constraints. Exercise judgment, facilitate decisions on priority, and provide recommendations based on solid financial return-on-investment and value proposition analyses Identify & manage technical challenges & risks with necessary resources and appropriate level of early engagement & preparation. Investigate and evaluate external suppliers and/or materials with guidance from multi-functional groups to support core process competencies Projects involved with: Prototype development & trial (offline & online) of new or significantly improved process component technologies to US and overseas (Japan, Korea's, Taiwan and China) Quality and attribute improvement programs Cost reduction initiatives targeting increased asset utilization and decreased capital investment New products and process developments. Process optimization, standardization, & governance Role within group: Individual contributor on projects, along with leading small to medium project teams - teams mostly include engineers from Development, Division Engineering and plants. Engineering project leadership position to support startup and/or transfer of forming processes and technologies Includes installation and startup of equipment as well as developing process setup to deliver required quality & performance targets Full documentation to be delivered including plan to resolve all open issues Collaborate with design, development and equipment engineering groups   Qualifications: Required: 5 10 years of experience   Education: BS or MS in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Aeronautical, or Material Science & Engineering   Required Skills: Engineering Fundamentals (Heat Transfer, Thermodynamics, Mechanics, etc.) Are you able to multi-task and take initiative and work effectively in a collaborative environment with multi-functional teams, contribute solutions, and remain flexible in a dynamic and changing environment. Are you experienced in leading small projects with good project management skills (build schedules, plan resources, delegate tasks, deal with issues, budgeting, etc.). Can you work on multiple technical projects at a time with successful transfer of projects to receivers. Do you have excellent written, oral and organizational skills with rigor and strong problem-solving; using scientific method & approach   Travel Requirement: Ability to travel (Up to 50% domestic and international). Hours of Work/Work Schedule/Flex-Time: Generally, Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. Evening conference calls, weekend and shift work occasionally required, depending on project responsibilities   Desired Skills: Hot glass experience or any Process Engineering experience Fluid Flow, CAD, and mechanical design Microsoft Office Package - including MS Project Project Management training & certification Statistical techniques   Soft Skills: Perseverance and ability to manage self. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
